Coroner: Wife of decapitated Georgia man was killed, dumped in lake

While fishing in Lake Oconee two fishermen spotted a body and called authorities immediately. This body ended up being identified as an 87-year-old Georgia woman named Shirley Dermond. She had been hit on the head with something and left in the lake. She was the wife of 88-year-old Russell Dermond. After not hearing from them for awhile their friends went to check on them in their million-dollar waterfront home and found Russell’s decapitated body in the garage. Shirley was nowhere to be found and it was presumed she was abducted since her phone, car, and purse were all still in the house. At this time there are no known suspects and Russell's head is still not found.

Disney Plans to Milk ‘Frozen’ success

As of right now Frozen is the highest grossing animated movie of all time. It is accumulating around 1.19 billion dollars in worldwide box office sales since its release in Thanksgiving.  If it continues as it is it will become the fifth highest grossing movie ever. Because of this movie, Disney has received a 27% increase in profits. Disney is going to take “full advantage of that over the next at least five years.”  Mikey Mouse brings in around $4 billion worth of sales for Disney right in front of the Disney Princesses franchise. Cars and Winnie the Pooh are next with around $2 billion a year right in front of Toy Story with about $1 billion. Frozen is predicted to be next with around $500 million to $1 billion a year.

Judge under fire for rape sentence, implying victim was promiscuous

Sir Young, 20 year-old teacher, admitted to raping a 14 year-old girl in her own high school. The judge on the case could have sentenced Young to at least 20 years in jail but instead decided only on a 45-day sentence. This extremely minimal sentence was backed up by the fact that this girl was supposedly very promiscuous; reported as having three sex partners and giving birth once.  This is causing a lot of controversy because the victim later killed herself and in addition to his minimal jail time Young also is required to serve 250 hours of community service at a rape crisis center. It is feared that because of this case, rape victims will not feel comfortable stepping forward or even going to centers when rapist themselves could be working there.

Kentucky postal worker jailed for stashing mail

Brent Morse, a 34 year old Kentucky resident and former postal worker, was charged with six months in prison for hording around 44,900 pieces of mail that he failed to deliver. Most of this mail was supposed to go to around 250 homes in the Dawson Springs community between March 2011 and March 2013. He said the only reason he didn't deliver the mail was because “he wanted to pick up his kids from school every day at a certain time.” He stored all the mail in his dead mother’s house and storage facilities close to his house and mail route. Morse isn't being charged with stealing what was inside the mail, but is being ordered to pay around $15,000 for the losses the stolen mail caused its recipients.

The world is in mass confusion. Because of the recent entanglement of Earth and Mars all times zones are switched around. To add to this, health awareness groups have convinced the government to create a law making it mandatory to switch the numbers in clocks to fruit. Not only will this be a constant reminder to be healthy it will also be a more fun way to tell time. To give an example, instead of it being three o'clock it will now be raspberry o'clock. California commuters, students warned: You might have gotten the measles

A student from the University of California might have spread measles to hundreds. This student likely got the measles during his trip overseas and didn't realize he had it until he returned. He had been all around the campus and surrounding community before he realized he was infected. To be infected with measles all you have to do is breath the same air as the infected person. If you share the same airspace as the infected person within 1 to 2 hours you have a very good possibility of getting sick. Measles is serious and kills one or two out of 1,000 infected children.

Parents killed girl by making her drink too much grape soda, water, authorities say

 A couple in Tennessee made the man’s 5-year-old daughter, Alexa Linboom, drink large amounts of grape soda and water in a short amount of time which led to her death. Alexa stole one or two grape drinks from her stepmother and to punish her she was forced to drink a lot of liquid very rapidly, two liters in less than two hour to be exact. This made her sodium levels in her body go down which made her brain swell. According to officials this wasn't the only form of punishment she endured, but they wouldn't specify. After Alexa became unresponsive the parents drove her to the hospital where she was put on life support for two days before they decided to let her go. The parents are now being charged with first degree murder, aggravated child abuse, and two counts of aggravated child neglect.

D.A.: Man killed 2 women with a hammer, believed they were "witches"

On Thursday, prosecutors ordered Carlos Alberto Amarillo to undergo psychiatric evaluation after he beat his girlfriend and her daughter to death with a hammer. He is 44 years old and called 911 after he had killed the two women. During the 911 call he confessed and said that he killed the women because he thought they were witches. He also said that he wanted the police to kill him.  None of the neighbors suspected anything unusual. They heard banging, but they thought that they were just moving or something. No one heard any screaming so no one called the police. Because of all the charges Amarillo is facing life without parole.

Amanda Knox found guilty of murder again by Italian Court

In 2009, Amanda Knox and her boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito were charged with the brutal killing of Knox’s roommate Kercher. Kercher was stabbed more than 40 times and her throat was cut after supposedly refusing to take part in a sex game. Many questions regarding the crime were left unanswered which is why Knox only spend four years in prison before she was let out due to lack of evidence. Now the Italian court is bringing up the crime once again and convicting Knox and ex-boyfriend Sollecito of murder. Knox is being sentenced to 28 ½ years in prison and Sollecito is being sentenced to 25 years in prison.

88-year-old man shoots wife in hospital

            On Sunday in the rehabilitation ward at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center, Nevada, an 88-year-old husband walked into his wife’s hospital room and shot her in the chest with a newly bought small caliber semi-automatic handgun. His motif and the details about his wife are unknown at this time except for that she is in bad, life-threatening shape and is being transferred to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno. Her husband has had no criminal background until this time and even though she was in the hospital in the first place because of injury they aren't linked to any possible assaults by her husband.

Justin Bieber mum about probe in egg attack

In Justin Bieber’s exclusive gated community in California, a neighbor has recently accused him of throwing eggs at their house, leaving it vandalized. The Los Angeles County Sheriff is investigating but Justin has not and will not comment on the issue. According to various neighbors, Bieber has been complained about to the sheriff many times. He’s been speeding down streets in his gated community and accused of spitting on a neighbor while in a heated discussion. If the damage from the egging he did recently costs more than $950 through damages he could possibly be charged with felony vandalism and undergo prosecution.

Arizona Mother Admits to Killing Daughter, Poisoning Other Kids, Police Say

On Christmas day, officers in Arizona answered to a 911 call by Michael Macias. He had escaped his ex-wife after being stabbed. Connie Villa, 35-year-old wife and mother, tried to kill her whole family. She successfully suffocated her 13-year-old daughter after she refused to take the drugs her mother was making all her children take. Connie knew what she was doing and wanted to kill her family so her ex-husband wouldn't have custody of their four children. The three youngest children survived the poisoning attempted. When police arrived Connie had self inflicted stab wounds, but was still alive. She is now being charged for first degree murder and four counts of attempted murder.

Louisiana Teen Sentenced for Wrestling-style Killing of Sister

A 13-year old boy is being charged with second-degree murder because of what he did while being left alone with his 5 year old sister as his mother went to the store. During this time he killed his little sister by trying out “pro-style wrestling moves on her.” He is sentenced to three years in a juvenile facility and his name is not being given out because of his age. This is not the first time he has shown aggression towards his sister. The boy told authorities of times he had punched and jumped viciously on his little sister while slamming her into her bed. The judge ruled that he knew exactly what he was doing and that he was hurting his little sister horribly, it wasn’t an accident.

For Victims’ Families, Sandy Hook 911 Calls Reopen Wounds

            The 911 calls from the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting were just recently released. This is upsetting a lot of people, especially the ones who had family members as victims. Parents of the victims made it so the crime scene photos couldn't be seen by the public but they were not able to keep the recording out of the public’s hands. Many media organizations are having a hard time deciding how to handle these taps. Some are showing parts of the recording and some are not using any of it at all and instead are just describing the recording’s contents. Many people are worried what the effect this is going to have on children; even the ones that weren't affected directly by the shooting. The recording can be accessed very easily by anyone and people are worried that it will start to “trigger post-traumatic stress disorder.”

Florida Woman in Warning-shot Case Released

Marissa Alexander, mother of three, is released from her sentence of 20 years in jail for firing off a gun. This shot was only supposed to scare off her supposedly abusive husband and didn’t hurt anybody. Though no one was hurt she was still tried and sent to prison. As of right now the case is being retried and she was released early under special conditions and a $150,000 bond. This whole case is interesting civil rights leaders who feel that the initial sentence was way too harsh.  They are fighting using Florida’s “stand your ground” law. She is now home with her family under electronic monitoring 24/7 until further notice.

Prosecutor to 'get to the bottom' of sex assault case involving Florida State star

Jameis Winston’s sexual assault scandal is reappearing. The case has been closed for months but Winston’s lawyer is saying he will cooperate with authorities. The assault was filed in December. The case was closed before he had ever been questioned. No one has been charged for anything and the subject’s description of the perpetrator didn’t match Winston. The description was a height ranging between 5-foot-9 and 5-foot-11 which is shorter than Winston who is 6-foot-4. Willie Meggs, the state attorney, doesn’t think much is going to come from this reopening of the case. It is just happening at a bad time for Winston because he is in the running for the Heisman Trophy.

Body found in hospital stairwell: San Francisco sheriff details what went wrong

Lynne Spalding Ford was found dead in a stairwell in the same hospital she disappeared from nine days earlier. After disappearing, Lynne’s family searched the city while passing out thousands of fliers. Information as to when and how she died is unknown thus far. She checked into the hospital for a bladder infection on September 19th and was found dead in the stairwell by an hospital engineering employee on October 8th. Numerous amounts of mishaps during the search for Lynne resulted in her not being found for this long amount of time. New policies are being instated to further prevent more incidents as horrible as this from happening again.

What's in your spices? Bug parts and rat hair

            New reports conducted by the Food and Drug Administration say that 12% of U.S. spice imports contain bug parts, rodent hairs, and other ingredients similar. They not only found this but also that 7% of spice imports passed by inspectors also contain salmonella. Salmonella is a bacteria that can cause abdominal cramps, fevers, and diarrhea. On the good side, out of the 37 years of records analyzed a “relatively small number of outbreaks” compared to what it could have been occurred. Only 14 outbreaks worldwide occurred from these spices, which caused 128 hospitalizations and around than 2,000 human illnesses. These spices go through many small hands before it gets to stores. There are many chances for contamination. Safety precautions are being taken and former ones are being tighten to hopefully prevent this from happening again.

Two Inmates Captured after escaping Oklahoma jail through Shower

            On Sunday four inmates escaped out of the Caddo County jail near Anadarko in Oklahoma. They creatively escaped through the shower room crawl space and crawled through a pipe until they reached outside of the jail. Three of these men had been convicted of meth-related charges and were waiting to be transferred to the state prison to serve their time when they escaped. The other man was waiting for his trail due to a gun charge. Two of these inmates were captured on Monday but two still remain loose and are being considered “armed and dangerous”.

No charges for firefighter who ran over Asiana crash survivor

            Because of the Asiana Airlines crash Flight 214 two people died and more than 180 people on the flight were injured. One of the most distressful incidents was the death of Ye Mengyuan. She was a 16-year-old girl from China who was flung from the plane as it crashed. As she laid there she was run over by a rescue vehicle driven by a firefighter. From the autopsy it was decided that she was alive when she landed after being flung but died because of being run over. This is a tragic accident and the firefighter who ran the girl over and the department he is from is apologizing profusely. As they said, “there’s not a lot of words to describe how badly we feel about it.” He is not being charged for this accidental killing.
